Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be Indian to join?
No. Everyone is welcome: any background, any age, any skill level. Our roots are in India and the Indian subcontinent; our door is open to all.
How much is membership?
$100 per year, paid by Interac e-Transfer. The membership year runs January 1 to December 31. If you join from September onwards, your membership also covers the whole following year.
How do I join?
Sign up at indiagolfmanitoba.ca, confirm your email, then log in: the e-Transfer details are on your account page. The committee approves you once payment arrives, and you get your IGAM member number.
I've never played. Where do I start?
Read our New to golf guide, then become a member. Once you're approved you can join the members' WhatsApp group, where members are happy to help beginners and bring them along to a friendly round.
Do I need a handicap?
No. Most events are open to all levels. For leagues and some tournaments we use your Golf Canada handicap if you have one, or set a starting one after a few rounds.
I don't have golf clubs.
Most Manitoba courses rent clubs. Members can also ask in the members' WhatsApp group in case someone has a spare set to lend.
Where do you play?
At public courses in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each event page lists the course.
How do I pay entry fees for events?
By Interac e-Transfer. After you register, the committee emails you the payment details. Your spot is confirmed once payment arrives.
Can I register as a single for a team event?
Yes. Register as "Just me" and we'll place you in a team with players of similar skill.
Can I bring a guest?
Many events are for members only. Check the event page, or ask the committee before the event.
Are my scores private?
Yes. Rounds you post are private by default. Only rounds you mark as an IGAM league or friendly round are shared with other logged-in members, and scores are never shown to the public.
Are the scores official handicaps?
No. Scores on our website are for fun and bragging rights. Official handicaps in Canada come from Golf Canada.
What happens if it rains?
The event organizer decides on the day. Any change is posted on the event page and in the members' WhatsApp group.
Could someone ask me to pay somewhere else?
Be careful. Only pay to the e-Transfer address shown on your account page when you are logged in to indiagolfmanitoba.ca. The committee will never ask you to pay a different address, a phone number, or with gift cards or crypto.
How do I contact IGAM?
